Event description
Mark Carwardine presents an entertaining and informative talk about his incredible adventures photographing whales and other marine life.

About this Event

As an acclaimed writer, broadcaster, naturalist and photographer, Mark Carwardine has been researching, watching and photographing whales and other marine life for over 30 years. Better known for co-presenting BBC-TV series Last Chance to See with Stephen Fry, for presenting Nature on BBC Radio 4, and for his myriad of books, Mark is a true advocate for marine wildlife and conservation. In this highly entertaining and informative talk, he will describe and illustrate his efforts to photograph some of the largest, least known and most evocative animals on the planet. Working from boats, underwater, from light aircraft and using drones, he has captured everything from gargantuan blue whales and energetic humpbacks, to bow-riding dolphins and cold-loving narwhal.

This event is hosted by the Falmouth University Marine & Natural History Photography Course in the idyllic venue of The Rosalind Franklin Rooms at We The Curious in Bristol's vibrant harbourside area. The ticket price not only includes entry to the talk, but a chance to look at the work of more than 60 passionate and talented graduate filmmakers and photographers all dedicated to conserving and protecting the natural world.

A welcome and introduction will be given by award-winning conservation photojournalist Neil Aldridge. There will be time for questions with Mark and Neil after the main talk.

All profits from tickets sales will be donated to two inspiring marine conservation organisations, Nurdle and The Beach Guardian.

Bar and refreshments available.

Doors open 6.00pm.
