Whale Watching from Tiumpan Head

Tiumpan Head, 11 miles east of Stornoway is regarded as one of the very best places in Europe to see the widest range of Whales and Dolphins from land. There are a few parking places near the lighthouse but there are more parking places back down the road. The best viewing is from the top of the hill behind the lighthouse, and if the sea state is nice and smooth, we would be very unlucky not to see whales, dolphins or porpoises. A wide range of seabirds can also be seen. Please stay to the gravel path if going up the hill.There will be several members of Whale and Dolphin Conservation WDC Shorewatch team there to point outand identify any marine life. Bring binoculars if you have them, but sometimes the marine life comes in very close to the lighthouse and can be seen without.
