What is the WHAM “Wellbeing Group?”
The Wellbeing group, aka “WHAM: Wellbeing & Health Action Map” is the journey you need to go on to ensure good health of mind and body. The two are strongly connected and with a map in hand you can find your way to overcoming difficulties and troubles that may be happening now, or might occur in the future.
WHAM has been developed by a group of mental health service users who wanted to work on their own recovery, which we call “wellbeing”.
Developing your own action map will take time. It helps to have others work on it with you. We hope you will find it a practical support for your wellbeing and resilience. It can be a reference guide and something to turn to in times of crisis. It is a map to help you find the ways that keep you well and healthy.
The WHAM group will be co-led by young people who have experienced mental health difficulties themselves.
Over the 7 weeks, WHAM will cover:
- Daily health plan
- Understanding what influences our mood
- Developing positive activities that improve mood
- Creating health friendships and supportive relationships
- Notice triggers and signs of trouble
- Develop crisis action plan
