Event description

Description

On this tour I will show you some of my favourite sculpted pieces along and around The Strand in Central London.

You'll see a diverse range of reliefs and artworks by established and relatively unknown artists form various periods throughout history as well as some contemporary pieces.

We'll look at huge figurative works, letterform, a map and some plaques, memorials and motifs large and small. It’s all in the details.

We'll also take a peek at Covent Garden and the River Thames and talk about the history of The Strand as a well-trodden link between Whitehall and The City, once lined with huge mansions.

It's hard to believe how much there is to see and learn along this one mile route and afterwards I hope you too will be looking up, looking down and around you that little bit more.

The journey starts a stone’s throw from Nelson’s Column and ends near The Savoy.

Please note that the tour sometimes over-runs approx 15mins due to questions and discussions.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no minimum age – children aged 5 or younger are welcome at no charge.
However, please note that all other children up to age 15 must be accompanied by an adult – one child per paying adult.

Where exactly does this tour start?

Details of the specific meeting point will be on your emailed ticket.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please don't waste time and resources printing out your ticket.
I will have a list of attendees on the day, although it would be wise to make a note of your booking reference

Is my registration fee or ticket transferable?

As you can appreciate, transfers/reassignments do not apply to those who just do not show up.

However, in cases of illness or unforeseen circumstances I will be happy to transfer your booking to another of my walks on another date as long as you let me know at least 24 hours before your booked walk is due to start.

Alternatively ... perhaps you might be able to offer your ticket to a friend ... please see the next question...

Is it OK if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

This is fine – just email/text me the name of the person who will be taking your place.

Is this tour suitable for wheelchairs?

Yes and no.

The walk will be mostly on standard pavements but the route accesses some side streets via a couple of narrow and/or sloped alleyways. Also, at one point there is a short flight of steps – this being the most direct route between two stops. All of these obstacles can be circumnavigated but, of course, this will add time to the tours.

I would be happy to organise a wheelchair friendly route at no extra charge for a group of minimum six people – please see my voucher for savings on group purchases. Please contact me for further information.
