What About the Men?

Overview
The Husbands and Boyfriends of the WSPU - a lunchtime talk at the Pankhurst Museum
One of the questions we get asked regularly at the museum is: what did the suffragettes' husbands make of their militant activities? Perhaps influenced by the wealth of anti-suffragette propaganda featuring images of hen-pecking women and overbearing wives, or by the representation of unassuming Mr Banks in Mary Poppins, the question keeps coming up in the museum. So now... we've decided to answer it.
Join us for another of our Saturday lunchtime talks to take a closer look at some of the men who were in relationships with suffragettes... and hopefully dispel a few myths while we're at it.
