Mortal Fools is a creative learning, theatre and drama company which produces compelling, dynamic and high-quality theatre by professional artists working as co-creators with young people and communities.Their work is underpinned by the belief that everyone has tremendous potential to contribute positively to society and make the world better.

Session Description:

When lockdown hit, Mortal Fools committed to providing young people with an outlet to explore their thoughts, feelings and ideas in a creative way. They learned so much about how to adapt, innovate and empower young people to feel valued. This workshop will help participants develop ideas and motivation to do the same.

Participants will work with Mortal Fools’ Young Digital Ambassadors, and Lead Associate Practitioner, to explore:

Practical creative activities to empower young people (using drama, film and audio)
Components of practice that are vital to delivering engaging activities that help young people create and be listened to
What is important to young people and what they want to use creativity for

The workshop will include:

Performance extracts
Practical creative exercises that are accessible to all (and not scary!)
Creative reflection tasks
Reflection on own practice

The workshop will be led by Sian Armstrong, Mortal Fools’ Lead Associate Practitioner and a freelance theatre-maker, writer and creative practitioner working with young people & communities. Sian will be delivering alongside the Mortal Fools Young Digital Ambassadors team who plan, create and participate in digital opportunities for young people.
