What and how we teach at conservatoire

Traditions and specialisation vs creativity for the conservatoire instrumentalist: Ian Clarke's first-study Player Development through Creativity on the Instrument pilot explores methods of re-balancing the opposition through integration. Kate Paterson and Carlos Lopez Real's project seeks new ways of encouraging collaborative rapport between conservatoire teachers, using video footage of one-to-one lessons to prompt reflection and dialogue about teaching practice.
Staff and students across the School are engaged in exploratory work; this summer’s Research Works programme is conceived as a showcase of their curiosity and creativity.
