You are invited to an exciting event hosted by a diverse network of faith organisations from the Make COP Count coalition, in partnership with the APPG on Climate Change and the APPG on Faith and Society.

The event will be an opportunity for parliamentarians to hear faith groups’ priorities for climate action in the run-up to the UN climate talks (COP26) and discuss how we can work together for positive change.

The event will be chaired by Canon Giles Goddard, Chair of Faith for the Climate, with opening and closing remarks from Rt Hon Stephen Timms MP and Dr Caroline Lucas MP. The main speakers will be:

Dr Jagbir Jhutti-Johal, Trustee of Faith for the Climate and Senior Lecturer in Sikh Studies at the University of Birmingham. Jagbir will speak about UK faith groups’ priorities for climate action in the run-up to COP26.
Enamul Mazid Khan Siddique, Head of Climate Justice and Natural Resource Rights, Oxfam in Bangladesh and Gareth Quity, Project Coordinator – PACCCIL, Oxfam in the Solomon Islands. Enamul and Gareth will speak about loss and damage as a key priority for COP26.

Representatives of faith groups will be on hand to answer parliamentarians’ questions about their priorities and plans. Attendees from faith groups will include faith leaders, young people of faith, and staff from faith-based organisations.

Participating faith groups include the Church of England, Eco Congregation Scotland, the Eco Dharma Network, Eco-Sikh UK, Eco Synagogue, Faith for the Climate, Fellowship of Reconciliation, Hindu Climate Action, Islamic Relief UK, the Joint Public Issues Team, and Quakers in Britain.
