Event description

Description

This weaving trust event concept comes from Citizens:MK

A Weaving Trust event is a tool for bringing communities together and ‘listening’. The main idea is to promote contact between people who would not otherwise meet based on the principle that contact and conversation builds bridges, creates awareness and weaves trust.

Transition Town Milton Keynes, as part of the Green Alliance, will host a Weaving Trust event to bring some of its members and an equal number of ‘guests’ together (primarily from Citizens:MK groups) to discuss the aims of our organisations and how environmental issues are being addressed in them.

This event is planned to take place in the Christian Foundation in Wolverton Square on Saturday 14 September 2019 from 3pm – 5pm. RVSP via eventbrite @ https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/green-alliance-mk-weaving-trust-tickets-66500022357

We'd like to get to know you, introduce ourselves and exchange concerns and ideas in these areas.

Then let's work together to craft winnable campaigns for the coming year.
The following link explains the origin and usual format of a weaving trust event.

Jo started working in wind energy in 1998, after a Mechanical Engineering degree, and has spent most of career working with investors in energy projects, facilitating >£5 billion of capital into new projects. In 2020, Jo is embarking on an ambitious project to accelerate business awareness of the need for rapid carbon reduction strategies.

Peter Tarbox – an entrepreneur who retired in his forties, Peter has cycled across Canada and hitchhiked across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. In his previous career he helped hospices raise more than £3.2 million. Peter first became interested in the global climate crisis after hearing a talk by the 16 year old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg which inspired him to come out of retirement. He wants to make a difference and is currently looking at setting up a climate lottery and planting a tree for every man, woman and child in the UK.

"When the last tree has been cut down,
the last fish caught,
the last river poisoned,
only then will we realize that we cannot eat money."
Native American saying
