Join Islington Council for the second session of the discussion series 'Let’s Talk Islington: What can we do together to tackle inequality?'
About this event
Passionate about tackling inequality in Islington? Hopeful for a more equal future where our borough is prosperous and thriving for all, but no idea where we might start? Too many in Islington are held back and deprived of opportunities because of factors like poverty and racism and we are on a mission to change this.
Starting in June, this three-part discussion series will explore what we mean by inequality in the Islington context, what lessons we can learn from elsewhere and how we can work together to tackle these problems and make a meaningful difference.
We will hear from local and national experts on three different themes, and invite questions and comments from participants. We will capture these conversations, and build them into our action plan as part of Let’s Talk Islington. We will be recording the session for anyone unable to join and do please get in touch with letstalkislington@islington.gov.uk if you have any other ideas or suggestions.
Sessions are online and open to all.
Please email equalities@islington.gov.uk if you have any accessibility requirements.
Session 2: Tuesday 7th June at 12-1pm
What can we do together to tackle inequality… so that everyone can make a decent living?
In our second discussion of the series, we will explore what we can do together in Islington so that everyone can make a decent living.
We want our borough to be a place where everyone who lives here has the income or means – from a decent job or the relevant support – to live well at every stage of life.
In this session, we are joined by members of our Inequality Task Force, Sam Gurney, Trades Union Congress Regional Secretary for London, East and South East, and Annabelle Kapoor, Head of Drayton Park Primary School, who will discuss their experiences and reflections on how we could make this a reality in Islington.
