What charities need to know about managing personal data
Mon 7 March 2016, 10:30 – 13:30 GMT
Whether large or small, your oganisation is likely to hold personal information about the people you work with, your donors, or your employees and volunteers. This means you have an obligation to comply with Data Protection law. Penalties for failing to adequately secure data, or for other breaches of the law, can be stiff.
This session will provide an overview of the Data Protection Act 1998, and discuss the practical steps your organisation can take to meet its obligations. We will also consider the recent changes to acceptable fundraising practice, issues around the use of cloud computing, and the implications of the new EU Data Protection Regulation.
