About this event
Edventure's Future Shed invites you to this discussion focused on the FUTURE.
Facilitated by Sue Palmer, Future Shed Lead, with Sam Evans, Co-Director of Edventure
We're imagining a future where communities are climate-resilient, resourceful and circular — built on shared skills, low-carbon innovation, and collective action. At a time when global systems are shifting from linear to circular, how can we respond in Frome?
What does a regenerative material and reuse future look like at a local scale? It’s a place where discarded materials become opportunity, where new forms of learning and enterprise emerge, and regenerative materials are centred. It's a place where people of all ages connect through making, fixing, growing and sharing.
What needs to happen to make it work? How can we collectivise and go forward?
Anyone interested is welcome for this open exploratory discussion.
Free hot drinks and snacks provided.
Come to Edventure's Welshmill Hub for a 10am start.
If you can't make it in person but are interested, please contact Sue Palmer sue@edventurefrome.org or Sam Evans sam@edventurefrome.org and we will connect with you to get your input / thoughts / ideas / jackpot contribution!
For the past decade or more, ideas for a Reuse Centre have been circling around Frome. There have been discussions and conversations, and possible buildings. We've hosted sessions and talks including Bristol Wood Recycling Centre, and we've visited Brinscombe Mill and The Long Table in Stroud. The Keep It Frome movement landed through Loop. And some of the networks supported by Future Shed, such as Everyone Needs Pockets, dream of a workshop / reuse space to meet and scale up.
Recently, Edventure incubated Fromebase, to research and begin a new DIY shop selling new unused surplus. This session focuses on what the future could bring.
Future Shed is part of Green & Healthy Frome, a partnership programme of Edventure Frome, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council taking action on health and climate funded by the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund.
Future Shed is about ideas and connections, collectives and enterprise - we are cooking up ideas and ventures to make real change around climate and wellbeing. This is a space to meet up, connect and build relationships to effect change. Come with your own idea, or join someone else's. It doesn't matter what stage you're at, whether you're already in the thick of a venture or just toying with an idea, or you're passionate about making a difference but not sure where to start? Everyone's welcome.
Further support from Future Shed on offer:
🌱 free 121 coaching from a qualified social enterprise coach with a wealth of experience of starting social enterprises and community projects in Frome and beyond.
