Description

Do you or your colleagues ever make referrals to the food bank? Do you work with and support people who sometimes struggle to afford enough food for themselves or their family?

Please join us for the launch of the ‘What Do I Do If...?’ leaflet and hear from a range of advice providers who can offer support for people facing a financial crisis in Dundee.

The ‘What do I do if…?’ leaflet has been designed to help anyone who supports or works with people facing financial crisis to quickly find out: what financial support is available in Dundee, what advice and support services will be able to do for someone in a crisis and how to contact, signpost and refer to these services.

This simple to use guide will help you support someone in any of the following situations:

  • I suddenly have no money

  • I'm waiting on a payment/decision

  • I have debt

  • My money doesn't stretch far enough

The event itself aims to inform frontline workers, support workers and volunteers about the resource and how to use it. The event will help you understand the types of support available, raise awareness of the services and improve confidence in contacting services when faced with someone in financial crisis.

There will also be an opportunity to chat to the services directly, run through scenarios and ask questions to help you better understand how to direct people to the support that is right for them.

A free networking lunch will be served from 12pm to provide an opportunity for you to learn more about the existing services and continue discussions.

Refreshments available throughout.

This event is co-hosted by A Menu for Change and Faith in Community Dundee.
