What Do We Do Now?
Thu 30 March 2017, 17:30 – 20:00 BST
The recent elections brought radical change to the NI Assembly. For the first time, unionism doesn't hold an overall majority. Meanwhile, the nationalist and republican parties, as well as the 'Other' parties, held nearly all of their seats, despite a reduction in the number of MLAs.
Such major change brings questions for those of us working in government affairs? Will the new party make-up change the way we engage with the Assembly? What is the next Executive likely to look like? Or, if the two biggest parties can't work together after a bitter election campaign, what's it like working within a Direct Rule scenario?
To answer these questions, and more, we've brought together a crack panel of experienced professionals and pundits. These veteran experts have worked closely with the Assembly throughout much of its history, and are ideally placed to comment on our current situation.
