About this event

Do you ever see apples falling off trees when no one seems to know what to do with them? beautiful apple trees that seem forgotten about and like no one really knows what to do with them? Have you heard that apple trees need pruning, but just don't know where to start?

These are some of the things that the people at Leeds Urban Harvest and Fruitworks started to talk about, and started looking for solutions.

At this event, they will show us how to use the apple pressing epuipment available for people to borrow and use, and give pointers on how to run a successful apple day. They will be able to let you know about plenty of apple themed activities coming up over the next few months, and give you advice on what you can do to look after or get started with your fruit trees.

Leeds Urban Harvest is a Leeds Permaculture Network project that stops surplus fruit from going to waste by:

Collecting surplus fruit and distributing it to where it can be used
Providing apple pressing kit for people in the community to run their own events
Creating edible products from the remaining surplus fruit

Fruit Works Co-operative is a social enterprise helping people to plant and maintain fruit trees in the Bradford and Leeds area.

The Leeds Permaculture Network social brings people together to share and learn.

18:00 - 18:30 - arrive, chat, eat a bit of soup.

18:30 - 20:00 - demo apple pressing. There will be plenty of chance to ask questions and get involved.

20:00 - 20:15 - please bring any announcements about your project.

20:15 - 21:00 - the networking bit! With help much appreciated to tidy up and leave Imagine Leeds as we found it, then a gradual migration to the pub for those who would like to join.
