Overview of the curriculum and statutory requirements – gain an understanding of the 7 areas of learning and the
characteristics of effective learning used in EYFS. We will also look at the four themes of the EYFS that underpin all the guidance.

Teaching and play – a balancing act – we will look at how children learn and the impact of teachers interactions and
enabling environments on a child’s development.

Achieving high levels of involvement and sustained shared thinking - We will look at the Ofsted definition of “teaching” and the tools that practitioners employ to ensure children have the best start in life and the opportunity to thrive.
