Event description

Description

Veganism is a belief protected under EU law, but can its practices also achieve social justice? A fifth of greenhouse gas emissions come from animal agriculture, while indigenous communities are losing their forests and water as Agri-corporations produce meats for Western consumers. Combining research from economics, sociology and human development, Dr Alex Lockwood, Senior Lecturer at the University of Sunderland and author of The Pig in Thin Air, argues that rethinking what we eat is essential for safeguarding global diversity and creating a sustainable future.
