Sales Have Ended

Registrations are closed
We’re fully booked at the moment but still taking waitlist bookings. We will be releasing more tickets 1-2 weeks prior to the event, and people on the waitlist will have priority access to these. When these tickets become available, we’ll contact the waitlist automatically on a first come, first served basis with further instructions on how to confirm tickets. No further action is required. On the day, we will also operate a returns queue. If any seats are left empty by registered ticketholders, we will fill those seats with people waiting in the returns queue on a first come, first served basis. Entry via the returns queue is not guaranteed. Please note that all IOE Public Events are over-ticketed.

Teaching offers rewards unlike any other job, yet we are struggling to attract and retain school teachers in the profession. We’ve accepted that teaching may no longer be a lifelong vocation, and made a virtue of that. We’re now in the midst of trying to reduce teacher workloads, and there’s been talk of using technology to mitigate teacher shortages. But this is reactive, piecemeal and defeatist. Is it time for a much more radical rethink of what the teacher’s role and remit should be in order to attract and keep those with the most to offer? Can we learn anything from other professions or other education systems? Are we paying sufficient attention to how technology could support a different working life for teachers? How long till advances in technology herald a more radical shift anyway?
