Event description

Description

How can you demonstrate that your research has impact and what do we mean by impact anyway?

Researchers are increasingly being expected to show that their research has impact, and impact statements are now widely expected as part of funding applications and research assessments. Yet what we mean by impact or how we can demonstrate it is not always clear cut.

We would all like to think that our own research is valuable and important in some way, that it might be impactful, but how do we make sure it is? Who could benefit from your research and how do they find out about it?

This workshop will look at defining what research impact means, and in particular what it might mean in the context of PhD research. We will then explore practical strategies for using your time as a PhD candidate to raise your research profile and delivering real impact for yourself and others beyond the thesis. By the end of the workshop, you will have developed your own impact statement and plan for achieving that impact.

Refreshments will be provided

Please note the refreshments for this session will be served in a different room to the one in which the session will be held. Refreshments will be in the North Atrium in the Foresight Centre, and will be served half an hour before the session from 14:00 to 14:30.

Important:

We take your privacy very seriously and will only use your email address to send you information about this session, and one optional questionnaire to evaluate Making an Impact Week (unless you opt out during registration).

You can opt-out at any time of receiving our communication by simply sending an email to Saneeya.Qureshi@liverpool.ac.uk
