Event description

Description

We invite staff involved in teaching at NUI Galway to the fourth event in a series organised by the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching on the broad question of 'what is a higher education?', this time on the theme of creativity and innovation. A 'higher' education involves more than the acquisition of knowledge, it should also develop students' capacity to build on this knowledge to create something new and to innovate. This myth that creativity and innovative thinking are something inherent in certain people and lacking in others is a powerful one, yet, in reality, talent and ingenuity can only be developed through practice and mastery of a field of endeavor

We will hear from academic staff from various different disciplines about what creativity and innovation mean in their particular disciplinary context and how their undergraduate curricula foster creative and innovative dispositions in students and continue the discussion over a light lunch.

Places are limited.
