“Steven trained as a molecular immunologist before joining the Sanger Institute in 1993 as one of the first scientists on the human Genome project. He transferred into a university spin-out which grew to become a global PLC taking on a variety of technical and commercial roles. In 2008, Steven took on a strategic role in Scottish economic development, identifying what would become known as digital health as a critical emerging sector, lobbying successfully at national level for its inclusion in the national life since strategy through the national industry advisory board.
In 2013, Steven co-founded the consultancy D Health through which he has worked with leading digital health companies from Europe and the US. He is an experienced consultant with a deep understanding of digital health’s unusual dynamics and has undertaken projects in consumer genomics, virtual primary care, diabetic medical devices, digital biomarkers, digital therapeutics, retail pharmacy, data transfer, outsourced services, weight management, cyber security, consumer products, data modelling, medical tourism and digital transformation.
In 20017, Steven founded the corporate working group in digital health; a forum for executives from multinationals to explore the diverse aspects of digital health, drawing executives from over 50 international companies from pharma, insurance, retail, telecoms, technology, etc. The impact of the Covid crisis ended this forum and in 2020, Steven founded DHV-NET (the digital health virtual network) in reaction to the pandemic’s impact on our ability to collaborate and innovate. Launched in October 2020, DHV-NET delivers monthly, virtual events on different aspects of digital health with over 1200 registrations of interest received for the 50 available places in the January 21 session.
Steven is an experienced presenter and moderator having featured in many international events including the Connected World Summit, the Pharmacy Business Show, the Digital Health World Congress, The Wearables Show, Israel mHealth meet up, the E-Health Summer University Meeting (Castres), the Wellness Investability Forum, BioFit etc.”
