What is reflexivity, in practice?

What is reflexivity, in practice?

By Professor Karen O'Reilly
Online event

Overview

The event will address how to do reflexivity, how to be reflexive in research design, data collection, analysis, and writing

The event will draw directly from Karen O’Reilly’s book, Qualitative Research Methods for Everyone and the paper she wrote in 2020 with Michaela Benson called Reflexive Practice in Live Sociology.

The event will address how to do reflexivity, how to be reflexive in research design, in data collection or generation, in analysis, and in writing. It asks ‘what does reflexivity actually look like’?

First, we explore the various dimensions of reflexivity, with a brief introduction to the philosophy and ethics behind it, before moving on to practical issues.

Participants will be encouraged to discuss issues in relation to their own research plans.

The event is designed for students, academics, and practitioners working in diverse applied settings, such as nursing and charity work.
