Zero Tolerance launch new guidance on Domestic Abuse for journalists

The ground breaking Domestic Abuse Bill is making its way through parliament. If passed it will transform Scotland’s response to domestic abuse to reflect women’s lived experience.

The Bill was introduced to the Scottish Parliament on 17 March 2017. If passed, we understand that it is likely to come into effect in late 2018 or early 2019. So, there are many opportunities for covering the Bill’s progress and contents, and then, if enacted, reporting on prosecutions.

Your words count: your stories and headlines reach survivors, perpetrators, children, adults who grew up with domestic abuse, professionals and communities. We want to help you feel confident to report on this guidance with confidence, sensitivity and accuracy.

We’re inviting you to the launch of our new briefing, ‘What journalists need to know about the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Bill’. This launch event will be a chance to hear about the new briefing from Justice Secretary Michael Matheson, as well as to speak with key representatives from the women’s sector and ask any questions you may have.

Refreshments will be provided
