What Lives in the Woods?
What Lives in the Woods?
About this event
Trail cameras are a great way to monitor, record and share wildlife sightings - they minimise disturbance on wildlife and capture species going about their normal behaviour.
This will be a two-part Young Rangers activity involving wildlife tracking and camera trapping, at Poles Coppice (Pontesbury).
Mon 27th June, 6:30-9pm, Learning how to use camera traps
This will be a short after school session to explore different habitats in the woodland, to look for wildlife tracks and signs and to learn how to use and deploy wildlife trail cameras for best results!
Sat 9th July, 1:30 -4pm, Reviewing camera trap footage
The follow-up session will involve collecting the camera traps that were set up on the previous session, to review the footage and to see what resident mammals and birds are residing in the wood.
Young Rangers are asked to bring suitable outdoor clothing and good, sturdy footwear.
The activity will involve exploring the woods on steep, uneven and overgrown terrain!
