“What Makes a Winner?” will teach you how to encourage pupils to ask hard questions about ‘sporting values’ – looking beyond ‘success’ and ‘failure’ to deeper questions of behaviour, citizenship, faith and other PSHE values such as friendship, equality and overcoming difficulties – exploring these values through true life stories of inspirational athletes and to reflect on what all this has to do with them.


 Uses stories of inspirational athletes to teach PSHE values and covers key cross-curricular themes such as racism, war and poverty.
 Help you to use sporting endeavour as a means of exploring key values with your pupils in Religious Education. PSHE, Citizenship and Literacy lessons and Collective Worship.
 Explores sporting values and challenges through the eyes of Christian Faith and belief.
 Includes aspects such as dedication, dependence, determination and discipline and how to encourage pupils to engage with related Bible stories.


All participants will receive the free teaching resource book “What Makes a Winner?” to accompany this session.
