What Makes Project Management in the Construction Sector Different?

What Makes Project Management in the Construction Sector Different?

By CIOB Bristol

Overview

A joint event with APM on project cycles, procurement, partnerships, approvals, and sustainability in the built environment sector.

Agenda

Our speakers, Dave Corbin and Claire Biggs are part of the APM Built Environment Interest Network. Dave is the Network lead.

They will share their many years of experience of working in the built environment sector to explain how and why project management is different in the built environment.

They will discuss the various project life cycles used, the procurement routes available and the partnering dream that has been pursued for the last 30 years to introduce more collaboration and co-operation into the customer supplier relationships.

They will consider the regulation and statutory approvals required, which are different from other types of projects, and will consider how the built environment is addressing the challenges of sustainability.

Lessons from PM practice in the built environment are more widely applicable of course, and this event will be of interest to built environment specialist as well as other project management sectors.
