What should a just transition for fossil fuel workers look like?

By The Just Transition Partnership
Online event

Overview

Hear from workers representatives, researchers and campaigners about action needed from employers and government

Instead of real progress on just transition, so far in Scotland we have had just empty words from government, not backed up by results. Redundancies in fossil fuel sectors have not been met with the creation of clear pathways into new jobs in renewable energy.

We will hear about the frustration rising among workers and communities most affected and the outlines of what a just transition should feel like for the workforce will be presented.

Speakers:

John Boland, North East of Scotland Organiser, Unite the Union

Laurie Macfarlane, Future Economy Scotland

Chris Hamilton, union convenor, PetroIneos Grangemouth

Catrina Randall, Just Transition Campaigner, Friends of the Earth Scotland

Francis Stuart, Scottish Trade Union Congress
