BeyondMe: Dedicated to strengthening social sector organisations by tapping a community of skilled professionals eager to make a long-term commitment to your cause.

Business in the Community: Provides support to charities, schools and community organisations through our employee volunteering networks. Every year we mobilize thousands of volunteers from over 850 member companies into capacity-building programs and pro-bono consulting services for the benefit of our community partners.

City of London Corporation: The City of London Corporation supports community organisations in Hackney through volunteering support, upskilling events, grant giving etc. The Corporation is also committed to regeneration in this area through supporting City businesses to develop responsible business practices.

ELBA: East London Business Alliance builds the connection between businesses and the community in east London and beyond, creating strong communities and tackling the issues that determine social mobility.

Workshop 1 Working with teams of professionals

BeyondMe enables charities of all sizes to benefit from a reliable flow of talent, resources and, most importantly, commitment from a growing community of professionals eager to give meaningfully in year-long partnerships. By tapping into the generosity of skilled volunteers, BeyondMe is unlocking greater resources for important causes like yours.

In 2017, near 800 volunteers will sign up to dedicate their skills, time and money towards causes and projects with lasting social impact. In this session we’ll explore how charities and social enterprises who’ve joined our portfolio benefit from the long-term support of enthusiastic volunteers, demonstrate how you can use skilled professionals to deliver projects that achieve your aims and explain how you can staring building partnerships with the best and brightest in city businesses today.

Workshop 2 Digital Literacy

In 2017, Business in the Community are committed to delivering skills-based volunteering activities specifically focused on digital literacy. No matter where your organisation falls on the digital scale, our corporate volunteers can work with you to optimize your website, streamline your database, deliver workshops to your beneficiaries, and provide valuable advice on how to monetize via technological platforms.

Join us as we hear from our long-term partner, Capital One, about the ways their ClickSilver program is transforming lives and communities through a digital skills sharing partnership.

Workshop 3 Developing your corporate offer

The City of London Corporation harnesses the skills of City businesses to support London’s communities through enabling partnerships and facilitating skills transfer. To effectively tap into the business support on offer however, charities must understand and be able to articulate their ‘corporate offer’. Join us to find out more about how the City of London Corporation can support you to develop this offer and find meaningful long-term partner.

Workshop 4 - Skills based volunteering

ELBA uses its corporate membership base in the City and Canary Wharf to provide skills based volunteering support in a range of formats to help build the capacity and capabilities of charities across east London. This covers a vast range of interventions, from one off groups of volunteers to longer term projects from individual volunteers with specific skill sets. Some of our most popular programmes include mentoring and coaching schemes for charity staff, board placements, employability and broader service user interaction workshops and anything in between, such as bespoke skills interventions around I.T., HR, Operations and Communications.

ELBA delivered over 10,000 volunteers with over 200 organisations in 2016 and in this session we’ll be exploring how you can work with ELBA, giving you greater insight into the types of support available and how you can access it.

Workshop 5 - Accessing ProBono legal support

“TrustLaw is a free service (for everyone involved) which connects lawyers with high-impact organisations that require pro bono legal assistance. We are a rapidly growing community of more than 3,500 members, including 600 law firms and in-house legal teams and 3000 NGOs and social enterprises. To date, we have connected over 2300 pro bono legal projects and our mission is to spread the practice of pro bono to help as many NGOs and social organisations as possible. Join us to hear about how your organisation can access free legal help through the TrustLaw network and discover our tools for identifying common legal issues.”
