Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

The focus of this one day inaugural University assessment and feedback conference is to bring colleagues together to share practical ways in which assessment and feedback practices can be enhanced by looking at ‘what works’ for us and our students. We are especially interested in sharing ideas about small-scale assessment and feedback interventions that have the potential to have: (i) a significant impact on student engagement and performance, and that (ii) are manageable for students and colleagues across the University mindful of the on-going demands of the REF, and additional discipline, faculty, and university requirements.

The conference is for all colleagues and students interested in developing and learning more about assessment and feedback practices in order to make them more meaningful and manageable for all to enhance one’s own learning and/or that of others. The intention is to make the day as interactive as possible and your contributions will be essential in shaping the day’s events.

If you are interested in contributing to the conference ‘sharing ideas sessions’, please confirm what you would like to present/discuss using the following link:

https://adam696.typeform.com/to/xYKlKj

When you go into the link you will be asked about your preferred format of delivery; focus of session, and for a short outline/abstract of what you hope to cover in the session type (max 200 words).

Format possibilities available include:

Good ideas that work 5 minute sessions

Presentations of ideas 20 minute sessions

Workshops on how to do x…. 30 minute sessions

Roundtable- group discussions 60 minute sessions

Suggested foci for the day: assessment literacy; feedback; assessment design e.g. programme level assessment; student partnership; other focus you would like to address as part of developing assessment and feedback practices.

Important Deadlines

Please put in expressions of interest by July 7, 2017 at the latest. An outline programme will be available by July 23, 2017.

Please do circulate this information to any colleagues/students that may be interested. If you have any queries, please do contact Carol Evans at c.a.evans@soton.ac.uk

We look forward to receiving your ideas to support an interactive and collegiate approach to developing and celebrating important work going on in assessment and feedback across the university. Thank you.
