Description

‘What Works’ Partnership Workshop

Greater Manchester’s Mayor and Police & Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd and the members of the Justice and Rehabilitation Executive have issued a ‘call for evidence’ to all partners working within the Criminal Justice System. Evidence received will be reviewed and used as the format to a discussion during a ‘What Works’ Partnership Workshop that will further explore good practise and future developments.

The issue of people with learning disabilities and learning difficulties in the Criminal Justice System is represented within the Justice and Rehabilitation Executive strategy and business plan as a cross cutting work stream. The issue is also a vital component of the victims’ services commissioning work, and this ‘call for evidence’ is being made with a view to finding a number of practical ways that multi-agency collaboration can be supported and developed across Greater Manchester.

A key element of embedding good practice for those with learning disabilities and learning difficulties is to ensure that services effectively communicate and support people and in addition a functional system exists for providing a person-centred approach irrespective of clinical thresholds.

The key areas of focus from the ‘call for evidence’:

  • What are the elements of good practise that are transferable?
  • What are the challenges?

This ‘call for evidence’ is not intended to be a formal consultation, and submissions are welcomed in whatever format best suits. However, to encourage responses that are brief and to the point at this stage a set of key questions have been prepared for respondents to consider – these can be accessed via a dedicated Survey Monkey questionnaire available online here. The questions are also listed at the end of the attached discussion document for ease of reference. You are invited to submit your views in response to this Call for Evidence by 12pm on Tuesday 18th April 2017.
