What’s a PhD All About?
Session 2: Research Proposals and Funding Applications
Thinking about pursuing a social science PhD and wondering how to get started with your research proposal? Curious about how to secure funding for your PhD? Join us for the second session in our series, where we’ll guide you through the key steps in writing a research proposal and applying for funding.
In this session, you will:
- Learn how to craft a strong research proposal that stands out to potential supervisors and funding bodies.
- Understand how to approach your potential supervisory team.
- Gain insight into what makes a compelling application from those who will be reviewing it.
- Hear from current DTP students who will share their experiences with writing research proposals and securing funding.
This session will break down the complex process of applying for PhD funding in the social science – making it more accessible, and providing the tools and knowledge you need to succeed.
Who should attend?
This session is aimed at anyone who thinks they might be interested in pursuing a PhD, and we would particularly welcome attendees from groups which are historically underrepresented in academia, including first-generation university students, students from ethnic minority backgrounds, and those from low-income backgrounds.
