Three leading People Management experts discuss their experience, plans and advice for the post-COVID workplace.

About this event

There is a different and potentially exciting future ahead. One certainty Post-COVID is that workplaces will be different; both the role of the workplace and the expectations of employees around how they work. Once COVID-19 is only a memory we would prefer to forget, what will the true, lasting new normal look like?

In this session our panel will discuss their experiences, future plans and practical advice on:

  • taking the best of what we have learned from working through a pandemic,
  • responding with agility to continued change and uncertainty,
  • re-engaging employees and meeting changing employee expectations, and
  • the impact of these actions on delivering against organisational strategies and goals.

We will be joined by inspirational HR leaders:

  • Amanda Braden is a Non-Executive Director with the Simon Community NI. She is a Business writer and Lecturer for the Open University and University of Essex modules on Employee Engagement and Leadership in the MBA, and Human Resources Management Masters degrees. She has written various business and HR articles, including a book, Leadership after Covid, an Amazon Best Seller. Amanda has 20 years’ prior senior level experience as a Global HR Director, most recently with Invest NI and previously with Terex and United Drug working in UK, Europe, US, and Asia.
  • Orla King has over 25 years experience in HR working across a number of sectors in both London and Belfast. She joined Danske Bank in 2005 and since then has undertaken a number of Senior Business Partner and delivery roles within the HR Directorate. Orla is currently responsible for delivery of strategic HR programmes and has taken a lead role in the development of the Bank’s Better Ways of Working framework, creating a new hybrid working model.
  • Sarah Middleton has held strategic HR positions with Direct Line Group, HSBC and M&S Money, where she has led significant change strategies, most notably the HR integration of Bradford and Bingley and Alliance and Leicester at Santander. Sarah joined iconic outdoor brand Berghaus and Brasher as Global HR Director in 2013, working as part of the Exec Team to successfully turn around business performance and create sustainable cultural change. In 2017 Sarah established a HR consultancy business, Auburn HR. Clients include Private Equity houses, British Retail Businesses and a range of SME's. Sarah is a Fellow Member of the CIPD.

Our panel leader Emer Hinphey, Managing Partner of Think People, will lead the panellist discussion around questions such as:

  • How will the role of leaders change and what will separate great leadership from good?
  • How are you planning the future structure and roles within your organisation?
  • Will remote/hybrid working remain widespread or will the need for human connection and the value of social capital bring us back into the workplace?
  • What will this mean for organisation culture and how do we ensure we keep connected and engage our colleagues?
  • What is the current landscape for talent attraction and has the shift to a more digital experience influenced how we find talent?
  • What is the impact on talent development and succession planning?
  • In a hybrid working world, how do we ensure that communication and collaboration are sufficient to avoid the feared ‘innovation gap’ and loss of knowledge transfer?
  • How can we support people in the transition to official long-term remote/hybrid working, or in the transition back to the office?
  • We’ve had to be reactive throughout the pandemic. Once it’s over and we can get a clearer picture of the future, what efforts can we make to stabilise our organisation and teams?

There’s lots to talk about and this will be a jam packed hour of conversation.

We will end with a Q&A session in which you can pose your own questions to the panellists.
