About this event

  • 1 hour

Who is this event for?

  • People who are newly diagnosed with MS.
  • Family or friends of those who have been newly diagnosed with MS

The programme:

In this webinar we’ll help you to start making sense of your diagnosis. We’ll provide you with information and signposting to further support and guidance that you may need. We hope through this webinar that we will empower you to live well with MS. These sessions are for you if:

  • You’re looking for ways to make sense of your diagnosis
  • You don’t know what information and support is available to you

What we will cover:

  • Presentation by an MS Nurse
  • Making sense of your diagnosis
  • Facts about MS
  • The healthcare professionals that can help you to manage your MS
  • Signposting to the information and support that’s available to you including in regards to employment, driving and prescriptions.
  • The importance of physical activity and looking after your mental health in managing your MS.

What’s involved?

You can take part from the comfort of your own home, initially joining our webinar where you are off screen and anonymous. Some people take part with a family member or friend but you don’t have to. You’ll be able to ask questions when you register but also during the session via the Q&A typed chat function.

Hosted by a staff member of the Living Well team, we'll be joined by volunteers who live or are affected by MS and an MS nurse.

To take part, you will need a laptop, phone or computer with access to a stable internet connection. We use the platform Zoom but if you’re not feeling confident using Zoom, we can offer support in how to get started and use the key features.

Why you should take part?

People tell us that after they take part they feel:

  • More positive and confident in moving forward
  • Informed of the information and support available
  • Less alone after meeting other people in a similar situation

“Thank you again for organising and for facilitating them in such a friendly, supportive and inclusive way. They have really helped me come to terms with my diagnosis, and given me more confidence to engage with others about my MS, which all makes life a little easier.”

What if I haven’t been sent the link?

Reminder emails are sent to everyone who completes the registration form on Eventbrite and books a place, so please enter your email address carefully when registering. The email we send might go into your spam or junk folder so please check before the sessions start that you can find it. Alternatively, you can access the link by logging into your Eventbrite account.

What should I do if I can no longer attend?

Don't worry if you can't make it on the night. If you've registered, you'll get a recording of the webinar to watch in your own time.
