What’s the Future for Small Independent Brewing?
Hosted by Beernomicon
Tom and Ross from the Beernomicon podcast have spent many hours listening to brewers tell their tales up and down the country over the last 5 years. They have become known for their no bullshit style, as well as their insightful, refreshingly candid look at modern brewing, which gives their listeners a true insight into the world of beer.
Last time they were at Runaway, the brewery flooded, so we’ve set a pretty high benchmark on the excitement scale. We’ve asked them back to host a panel discussion around a subject close to our hearts – small scale brewing, localism and independence in beer. With recent brewery takeovers, the seemingly insatiable desire for growth, and what can often seem like unimaginable levels of investment / crowd funding pouring in to fund it all – is there still a place for small, local breweries? How do they stay relevant? What role does ambition play in the future of modern British beer?
The panel will include brewers/brewery owners, beer lovers/influencers, and consumers/retailers. Join us for what promises to be a lively discussion.
The brewery tap will be open from 12 - 9pm if you fancy a beer + food traders and music from friends of the brewery too.
FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
You must be 18 or over. We operate a challenge 25 policy, so if you're lucky enough to look younger than that, please be aware that you may be asked for ID.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is no parking at the brewery. But who needs a car when youre coming to a brewery anyway? The brewery is only 5 minutes walk from Victoria Station and Shudehill Interchange (bus and tram). Our near neighbours Popup Bikes are located at Arch 4 on Corporation Street and provide secure bike parking on Saturdays (closed Sunday). We also have limited space for bike parking in the yard at the brewery.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
If you have any questions, please contact us through Eventbrite or contact the brewery direct through our website

Unfortunately, not.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Please bring either a printed ticket, or digital equivalent.
What is the refund policy?

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Yes.
May I bring my dog to the event?
Unfortunately, due to the taproom being located inside the brewery, we are unable to accommodate dogs – but, when it’s warm, we do have seating outside where well behaved dogs are most welcome.
