Event description

Description

Oxygen have been running our Knife Crime project "What's the Point?" for the past 5 years in schools across the Borough. Knife Crime is on the rise across the capital and Kingston sadly is not an exception to this. Statistically last year knife related incidents rose by between 50-70% across the borough. With this in mind we are running a conference for all the schools in the borough to bring a group of year 9/10 students. Our hope is that they will experience an exciting and engaging day hearing from many different agencies including the Police, Street Doctors, an ex-convict turned motivational speaker, Fearless and others. The day will also include contributions from the Oxygen staff team. There will also be sessions for teachers and staff to help them to think about how best to combat the issue in their schools. The project is being Funded by the Home Office, the London Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) in partnership with the Metroplitan police, Kingston Council's Safer Neighbourhood Board and Kingston University.
