Event description

Description

An exciting, interactive Fearless Futures workshop supported by Teach First to support participants and ambassadors to grow their equalities cognisance and capability.

In the wake of the increasing normalisation of xenophobic, misogynistic rhetoric in the UK and beyond educators have a responsibility to swiftly and adeptly resist this disturbing trend where it appears in their classrooms and school communities. And to to counter it through the promotion of equality and inclusivity.

This isn’t an easy task. While balancing attainment, behaviour and pedagogy concerns, it can be hard for teachers to carve out a strong, informed response to this trend and develop their equalities practice. And how does an educator best embed equalities and inclusion thinking into their classroom practice if we see inequalities as complex, interconnected and often unwittingly perpetuated?

Following on from their hugely popular Guardian article, in this innovative and interactive workshop participants will:

  • explore the manifestations, implications and root causes of inequalities within their school communities

  • begin to craft a self-developed toolkit as to how they can more meaningfully, courageously and holistically tackle inequalities and dangerous narratives in their own classrooms.

Refreshments will be provided.
