4 Week Pottery Wheel Course

Week 1: Intro to throwing
Week 2: Developing throwing
Week 3: Trimming + Handles
Week 4: Glazing
Discover the art of wheel thrown pottery with this 4 week course designed for beginners. We will focus on technique in throwing and trimming, get insight into the start-to-finish process of working with clay and finish with decorating and glazing our pieces. You can expect to make 4-6 pieces during this course.
Week 1: Intro to throwing
Throwing on the wheel is no mean feat- this week we will get to grips with the equipment, positioning and playing with the clay to create simple cylinders and bud vases.
Week 2: Developing throwing
This week we may experiment a little more with throwing, developing our skills and trying for bigger, taller or more intricate shapes.
Week 3: Trimming + Handles
Once our pieces have dried we will trim any excess weight off and refine them. We also have the opportunity to add handles.
Week 4: Glazing + Decoration
We will return to our bisque-fired pieces for decoration with underglaze and glazes before undergoing their final firing.
