About this event
Wheely Wonders days are specifically designed for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, physically disabled children, their siblings, parents and carers, set at Applefield, a beautiful, intimate and private smallholding in Sidlesham, near Selsey.
The fun to be had!...
On arrival, explore the farm and meet the animals – Rosemary and Angela the donkeys will be so happy to see you again! Jigsaw, Olive and Chilli the goats will be ready and waiting to nibble some leaves you can feed them! You will also have the opportunity to hold Bedroom Slippers the bantam or Rosie the chicken! There may be a chance to bottle feed a lamb too!
With Woodland Wonders Forest School you will have a go at some sawing to create seasonal crafts. There will also be some time to spend relaxing in the shady wooded area, making mud pies in the mud kitchen, hunting for bugs, exploring, lying in the hammock or playing on the swing.
Around the fire circle: There will be an opportunity to learn some fire lighting skills using a flint and steel for those who wish to try and we will have a camp fire to toast a marshmallow to make into a s’more before we have some well-earned relaxing time and leisurely lunch break to enjoy your picnic chilling on the field or in the greenhouse before an afternoon of Lizzie's Craft Club.
Lizzie's Craft Club will be held in the field or greenhouse, weather dependant. You will enjoy a relaxing afternoon making some autumn themed crafts.
Finally, Chris North will be with us for a Freedom Through Fun activities and a magic show!
Price: Places are fully funded by Wellspring West Sussex. Please book your free tickets for all children and young people that are attending (babies under 18 months do not need tickets). Let us know how many adults will be attending in your group. Also include any other information that you would like us to know - this will help us plan activities and support. Places are limited and very popular, if you are unable to attend once booked please let us know ASAP so we can offer the place to someone on our waiting list.
Things to note: Parking will be available on the field (weather permitting) or in the farmyard with plenty of wheelchair access and space for lowering ramps etc. The site is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair friendly bathroom and changing area with hoist. Please bring a picnic with you and picnic blanket or folding chair if you like some comfort. Bring your own hot drinks. We can have the use of the communal greenhouse if necessary, which can be used for activities or at lunchtime.
Please also note that dogs are not permitted at these events.
Please contact us with any questions, we look forward to seeing you there!
