A Repositive Cancer Models Forum Event at AACR 2019

When first-line therapy fails: current challenges modelling metastasis & recurrence

Improving outcomes for cancer patients requires biopharmas to develop effective therapies for not just primary tumours but also for metastatic growths and secondary tumours, which have acquired resistance to first-line therapy. But the vast majority of animal models available for pre-clinical research are based on evaluating primary tumour sites and the literature for modelling metastases in vitro is still relatively small.

To help enhance metastasis modelling in pre-clinical drug development, Repositive Cancer Models Forum's is hosting an informal discussion at AACR 2019 for biopharma and CRO scientists.

Here’s some of the key topics we’ll be exploring:

  • How do we model metastasis in pre-clinical research to give us accurate indications of a therapy’s potential success?

  • What are the challenges associated with current models of metastasis and how can we overcome them?

  • Should in vitro / ex vivo models for cancer metastasis ever be used in drug development and in what context?

  • What aspect of recurrent disease is not adequately modelled by existing models?

Share your experiences with metastatic models and have your say on what the next-generation of pre-clinical cancer research will look like - food and drink provided!

See you there!
