Event description
When Pets Pass On: Workshop 3

About this Event

Pets are members of approximately half all UK households. But pets' relatively short life spans mean that families inevitably face the heartbreak of pet bereavement, from making agonising decisions about the end of life to coping with feelings of loss and bereavement. The 'When Pets Pass On' workshops is an initiative of the Pet Loss Network (petlossnetwork.org) which aims to create a network of pet people, artists, practitioners and researchers to contextualise pet bereavement historically and cross culturally and to work towards developing models of good practice in pet death and bereavement.

The third workshop on Pet Loss hosted by the Pet Loss Network looks broadly at different kinds of inequalities in pet loss experiences.

Julie-Marie Strange (Durham University): Pet Death and Disenfranchised Grief

Marie Fox (University of Liverpool): Surrender as Pet Loss

Gabriel (StreetVet): Pet Loss for the Homeless

Neil Pemberton (University of Manchester): Retirement as Loss in Assistance Dog Partnerships

Please note: this workshop addresses pet death, grief and disposal. It may not be suitable for everyone. Please use discretion.
