This workshop with expert speakers will provide legal and practical guidance on ensuring staff with disabilities are appropriately supported while considering the needs of other staff, productivity, business success and the employer brand. The facilitators will lead this interactive workshop giving practical explanations of how organisations can improve employment for people with disabilities, all their colleagues and their organisation. Firstly they will give guidance on good practices when staff have explained they have a disability for which reasonable adjustments are needed. Secondly, they will explain how evidence should be gathered and decisions made about responding to requests for reasonable adjustments. They will remind those attending of the relevant legislation and learning derived from case law, while explaining how difficult discussions can be made productive. They will demonstrate how to add to existing practices, policies and procedures to be legal and effective employers and businesses using the good offices of government agencies.
This event forms part of a series under the running title “Telling it like it is” offering members a range of topical subjects for both generalists and specialists. You will be supporting your Continuing Professional Development because through working with the facilitators, you will understand how to be:
- Purposeful: designing and managing effective processes which benefit employees and the organisation
- Agile: working with the latest theories on effective evidence gathering and responses
- Collaborative: learning from good practices in organisations
- Expert: explaining the legal issues around procedures for people with disabilities
