When to Act, When to Refer: Lessons from Complex Glaucoma Cases
CPD reference: C-113348
This CPD session will use two contrasting glaucoma cases to illustrate the challenges of recognising progression and supporting patients with complex disease. We will reflect on how subtle clinical changes can be overlooked, the importance of vigilance in high-risk groups, and how treatment options evolve when standard approaches are no longer effective. The discussion will focus on practical strategies for optometrists: recognising red flags, determining when urgent referral is required, and understanding how newer surgical options fit within the glaucoma pathway.
This interactive lecture for GPs, Optometrists and Opticians will be led by Clinica London Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Mr Minak Bhalla on Thursday 25th September at 6.30pm at Clinica London, 140 Harley Street, W1G 7LB.
Key learning points of the meeting will be to:
- Identify subtle progression in high-risk eyes
- Recognise red flags that warrant urgent review or referral
- Support patients facing difficult treatment decisions
- Understand where newer interventions, such as MIGS, fit into the wider pathway
