When Willpower is not enough: How to Re-wire Your Brain

Have you ever found yourself stuck? Maybe feeling unable to move forward in life and held back by past issues or worried about the future? Sometimes we are not even sure why …. we feel we 'should' be able to overcome these obstacles, but it’s just not happening. Willpower doesn't seem to be enough.

There is a reason for this: Yorkshire-based Psychotherapist John Taylor says we are probably fighting against the patterns we have formed in life and sometimes, try as we might, it is difficult to change those. There’s a new field of neuropsychotherapy which combines the understanding of how the brain and body work with psychotherapeutic approaches. John is going to join us to talk how the brain 'rewires' itself constantly and how it keeps reacting to patterns that we have already formed. Understanding more about how our brain really works can release us from so many stressful triggers. Knowledge is power!

This evening you might get clarity on:

  • why you can't stop yourself doing certain things

  • why you have been limiting yourself from getting on with life

  • why you might have given up on something without even trying properly

  • Why some situations 'trigger' uncomfortable feelings, even though you have no idea why.

Therapy doesn't always work in clearing up these issues. John is going to show us some exercises and explain more about this brand new field of BWRT - BrainWorking Recursive Therapy - which was developed by leading UK psychotherapist Terence Watts in 2011. It has been proving very helpful for changing behaviours and habits and is successful for many cases of PTSD, panic and anxiety as well as anxiety and phobias.

Our speaker John Taylor is a founder member of the British Brainworking Research Society and a member of the Institute of BrainWorking Recursive Therapy. He works extensively with clients in Skipton, Northallerton and worldwide via Skype.

November 4th is the first day of International Stress Awareness week and we thought that understanding more about how our brains work, and how they can be changed, would be very helpful in reducing stress.

Tickets cost £7 + fees in advance or £10 cash on the door.

Join us on Monday 4th November for an inspiring, informative and lively evening in a very safe environment, welcoming environment.

******************************************* ATTENTION *************************************

My request to our regular Conscious Cafe attendees who book on this site, Eventbrite..... can you please register on our Meetup Page as well. Please set up a profile on Meetup.com if you have not already done so .. it is an awesome facility which you will enjoy using. Then go to the event page for this event and register that you are coming. I am asking this because Conscious Cafe Skipton has a very large following on Meetup but few bookings on each event page so it appears that we don't have much happening, when we do! For the July event we had 4 people on the Meetup page and 46 in the room on the night ... :-) !!

thanks for that .. I'd love your help here in simply spreading the word .. using both Eventbrite and Meetup.
