Event description

Description

Tragedies can happen when organisations do not take adequate responsibility for what happens further down the supply chain. However, ‘taking responsibility’ is easier said than done! Professor Pauline Dibben and her team have carried out research in South Africa and Brazil to find out how (and whether) companies are checking on their suppliers’ HR practices. Their research has resulted in a self-diagnostic tool that companies can use to improve their supply chain and HR practices.

What should I do to make sure that workers are managed well, down my supply chain?

In this interactive session, Pauline will discuss the implications for organisations if they are not aware of what is happening in their supply chain, and suggest solutions through demonstrating the new ‘SCA-Emp’ toolkit that is available to organisations for free.

This event is a chance for everyone to reflect upon their practices, including supply chains, strategic relationships and partnerships. Plenary and small group discussions will enable us all to reflect on ethical practice and the challenges of achieving this within such an inter-connected world. Yet this is also relevant, even if your supplier chain is seemingly local in nature!

This is an interactive workshop including a small group discussion, trying out the SCA-EMP toolkit and Q&A. You will learn about global inter-connectivity and also have a chance to reflect upon ethical practice. Please aim to bring your laptop/ tablet.
