Where should Makerhood go from here? (And a little bit of a summer social)
Tue 26 July 2016, 19:00 – 21:00 BST
This month's Makers' Club combines a summer social get-together with a chance to talk about what Makerhood should do next.
Makerhood started five years ago this month. At that time there were no markets for locally made products in Brixton, no shops stocking local makers and no way for makers in Lambeth to meet one another. In five years we've organised over 50 selling opportunities for local makers, showcased local makers in two Making Uncovered events visited by over 800 people, held over 20 Makers' Club meetings sharing information on topics such as protecting your copyright, pricing your work and selling online and met and worked with local organisations such as Remakery and Crafty Fox. We've come a long way!
As Makerhood has grown the landscape of making has changed around us. These days there are many more opportunities for makers to find business advice, selling opportunities and support. So where does Makerhood fit into this and what should our role be in the next five years?
These are big questions - and who better to answer them than makers themselves!
Makerhood would be nothing without you - so do please come along and share your ideas. We'd love to hear them!
