Description

In this lecture Robert P. Gordon will make comparisons between ancient and modern versions (in which he has had some involvement), touching on such issues as translation policy, revision processes, and history of reception.

Robert P. Gordon taught Hebrew and Old Testament at Glasgow University in the 1970s.

One of his main research interests has been the ancient translations of the Old Testament into various languages.

His published works include commentaries on Samuel and Hebrews.

Since 1979 he has lived and worked in the Cambridge area, retiring in 2012 from his post as Regius Professor of Hebrew in the University of Cambridge.
