On behalf of the 5 North West NCOPs, Shaping Futures are pleased to host a presentation of Dr Neil Raven’s research ‘Perspectives and prospects: the educational ambitions and intentions of young white British males from five disadvantaged areas in North West England’ on the 24th April 2019. Dr Raven will present his research and take questions from attendees, before a panel discussion with outreach and educational professional who work with this cohort.
This research examines the topical issue of how to effectively motivate and raise higher education aspirations for young white British males. The field work for the study has included a number of focus groups with pupils in a selection of 14-18 year old educational providers across the North West of England. The study also builds on previous published research on this topic by Dr Raven.
The event will take place at the University of Liverpool campus in Liverpool City Centre, with full joining instructions to be issued nearer the time of the event.
