Whitney Brown - Between Stone and Sky: Memoirs of a Waller
Event Information
Description
Whitney Brown was going to be a museum curator. Yet, one summer, hard at work finishing a Master’s in Folklore at the University of North Carolina, Whitney encountered dry stone walling.
BETWEEN STONE AND SKY: MEMOIRS OF A WALLER (Constable) is the story of Whitney's journey from America to Wales, falling in love with a craft, a tradition, and a landscape. An honest reflection on careers, love, life and female friendship, the book is also an evocative and complex portrait of life in rural Wales.
We're privileged that Whitney is visiting Grasmere where she'll be in conversation with Dr. Polly Atkin. Come and join us at Emma’s Dell!
Whitney Brown is based in the Blue Ridge Mountains in southwest Virginia and has completed dry-stone walling projects across America and Wales. Between Stone and Sky is her first book. Whitney’s writing has recently featured in the fourth issue of Elementum: A Journal of Nature and Story. Find out more about Whitney’s work via her website: www.whitneybrownstone.com
