In conversation with the programme makers that put history on TV.

They have worked as researchers and producers on the award-winning BBC series and are also engaged on other projects across television networks. These range from archaeology to Eastenders’ star Danny Dyer getting to know his 22× great grandfather Edward III; from the Holocaust to how a London borough became the most unequal place in Britain.

Find out about what is in the pipeline and how hard or easy it is to pitch a new idea.

There will be time to chat - this is a conversation, not a lecture - and there will be an opportunity to ask all those questions you’ve always wanted to put to the experts.

Ever wondered how they choose celebrities for WDYTYA?
Or how centuries of history are distilled into an entertaining hour of TV?
Do television researchers know short cuts we could all use?
How do programme makers develop ideas

Stella has worked as a Researcher and Assistant Producer on a variety of history programmes including episodes of Who Do You Think You Are? featuring Clare Balding, Olivia Colman and Daniel Radcliffe.
She is currently working on a Channel 4 documentary on the 75
th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Alex Bingham spent a year as a Researcher on the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? and is currently an Assistant Producer on Channel 4's forthcoming history series My Grandparents' War (due to be broadcast in Nov 2019).

Rebecca Fairbank’s projects have included Who Do You Think You Are? (including episodes with Lulu, Charles Dance and Lee Mack), Before Grenfell: A Hidden History, and Danny Dyer's Right Royal Family. She is currently working on an archaeology series for BBC2.

Meet the programme makers that put history on TV. Find out about other programmes in the pipeline and how hard or easy it is to pitch a new idea.

It includes a welcome drink and light refreshments. Book now. Space is limited and this is bound to be a popular event.

The Regency Town House

The Regency Town House is raising the profile of Brighton & Hove as a historic location.  We encourage a better preservation of the city's built heritage.  We are developing an appreciation of Regency architecture and social history.

We are in the process of recreating a traditionally refurbished historic home. We offer a programme of events about the history/architectural heritage of Brighton & Hove. We are also developing digital resources relating to life in the Regency period.
