Event Details

Get your read on with Charlie’s Keeper, aka Marcus Alexander, the celebrated children’s author. His début novel ‘Crow’s Revenge’ was published in 2012, and is the first of his acclaimed Keeper of the Realms fantasy-adventure trilogy, and we’re delighted he’s joining us for an afternoon presentation as part of this year’s Festival.

A keen champion of literacy among young people, Marcus uses tales of his travels and sporting experiences to inspire children to read and write creatively. If anecdotes of sand-boarding in the Sahara desert or trekking up Mount Everest aren’t enough for today’s youth, then youngsters will surely be fascinated to hear Marcus Alexander talking about his various extreme sport pursuits, such as capoeira, parkour and skydiving, as he hopes to tempt students back towards books, and away from the mind-numbing dominance of video games

Children’s book publisher Puffin has lauded Keeper of the Realms as a delightfully wicked fantasy-adventure series for 8-14 year-old boys and girls created by a seriously exciting début talent, Marcus Alexander. This is a must-read book for fans of Lemony Snicket, the Chronicles of Narnia and Artemis Fowl’. At the end of the talk fans will be able to have their books signed by the author, and have the opportunity to buy other instalments from the series.
